Drag Week Wrap Up!
We unwind and chat with Robert River about what it took him to get his NHRA Pro Stock License. Then we chat with Vinnie Barbone and Rich Guido of Drag Week fame, both top finishers. Vinnie talks about electrical fires and Rich talks about clutch abuse.
Then we get a surprise call from the builder/driver of the world’s quickest/fastest Stock Bottom End LS car!! Jonathan Capizzi!!! It’s very enlightening to hear about his program and the things he focuses on (and the things he skips!). Definitely listen to this if you want to know how to go fast without blowing up your junk.
Finally we discuss a little about the Big Bang engine that our own John Bewley was involved in testing. Very cool stuff.
All the usual panelists too: Ry Klemp, Doug and Andy Cook, Mark Dalquist, Tom Sewell, John Bewley, and others!

It’s the Middle of Hot Rod Magazine’s Drag Week and we are close with a number of racers, so we decided to interview some of them to find out what makes their programs work. We talk with Vinny Barbone in the Unlimited Class Geo Tracker, and James “Doc” McEntire who yesterday became the first to pilot a naturally aspirated car to a 7-second quarter mile pass in Drag Week history with a 7.99 at Gateway. Doc takes us through the challenges, highs and lows over the years, and his current engine combination designed and built by Todd Goodwin – who then also joins the discussion!!
A unique show where we interviewed a variety of Drag Week competitors including Richard Guido, Blake Hughes of 417 Motorsports, The guys with the crazy turbo Geo Tracker, 7-second Canadian hero Matt Blasco, and both of the guys who’ve competed in every single Drag Week since it began – Tom Hogshead and Vincent Raasch. Hosts Scott Clark, Mark Dalquist, Bill Fowler, Ry Klemp and Scott Evans.
